Walking Pads
A walking pad lets you move while you work — but it is also a piece of fitness equipment living in your smallest room. This section is about the practical side: sizes, clearance, noise and storage in apartments and small home offices.

Walking Pad Under a Desk: Clearance, Noise and Flooring, Explained
The four checks to run before a pad enters the room: desk-height maths with the pad's added inches, ceiling height, apartment noise, and protecting your floor.
Read the guide →The fit questions that matter
- Room depth. Most pads are about 47–55 inches long. Add your desk depth and standing room, and many small rooms need roughly 72 inches or more of clear depth.
- Desk width and height. Your desk should be at least about 48 inches wide so you are not squeezed between the legs, and tall enough (or height-adjustable) to type comfortably while you walk.
- Storage. Where does the pad go at night? Many slide under a sofa or bed; check the pad's thickness against your furniture clearance.
- Noise and floors. In an apartment, vibration carries. A mat underneath and reasonable speeds keep neighbours — and housemates — on your side.
Quick check
Our desk-size calculator includes a walking-pad fit check: enter your room width and wall length, and it tells you whether a typical pad fits under your desk with room to spare.
